It may be the dog days of summer, and you may be reading this while on the beach…but it’s never too soon to start planning for fall and your family photos.
Here are a few tips and tricks to help you plan.
1. Fall is a popular time and it may be a good idea to reach out to your photographer to let them know you’re interested in a session. Asking sooner will give you the best availability.
2. Your photographer is your partner in this. Let them know if you want to do the same place as last year because you like to see how much your kids have grown near that bridge over the creek, or maybe you’d like a new spot? A conversation with your photographer will help make sure you have a wonderful session and beautiful photos.
3. Clothes: For the kids, wearing something for the first time isn’t the best idea for the session. It may be scratchy, tight, or something they aren’t used to. Have them wear it a few times before the session so that they are comfortable.
4. Well rested and well fed does wonders for a successful session. This applies to adults as much as it does to kids.
5. Unlike studio photography, documentary style photography is more ‘real life’. And sometimes things don’t go as planned. That being said, your photographer knows that kids are kids and they have the experience with this, let them take the lead.
